As part of capacity building projects for National Regulatory Authorities (ANR) and Ethics Committees (EC), Fondation Congolaise pour la Recherche Médicale in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Population of Congo organized on September 22 and 23, 2021, a webinar on the " Analysis of national COVID-19 vaccination strategies by the Ethics Committees and National Regulatory Authorities of Central Africa ". This two-day meeting brought together sub-regional countries (Cameroon, Congo, DRC, Chad, CAR…) decision-makers, members of ANRs, and ECs, members of Immunization Programs and other scientists.
The webinar, " Analysis of national COVID-19 vaccination strategies by the Ethics Committees and National Regulatory Authorities of Central Africa " clearly revealed the similarity of the challenges surrounding COVID-19 vaccination campaigns in Central African countries. Communication emerged as one of the main links to be strengthened within the immunization commissions of our countries.
The discussions also highlighted the need to involve the ethics committees of the sub-region in vaccine strategies in order to consolidate the confidence of the populations in vaccination and vaccines. On the other hand, the management of AEFI should be boosted by the impetus for an active research in order to detect any possible adverst event that may escape the passive research mechanism mainly currently implemented in the sub-region.
